Police arrested a Newark man after an international investigation traced indecent images and messages sent to a 12-year-old Canadian girl back to Wayne County. Canadian police launched the investigation after the child received inappropriate images and texts through the online gaming platform Roblox.
Investigators determined the messages originated from a man living in Newark and contacted New York State Police in Lyons. State police investigators took Brayden J. Bergfjord, 21, of 507 North Main Street in Newark, into custody Tuesday morning, Jan. 27.
Police charged Bergfjord with disseminating indecent material to minors in the first degree, a felony. Authorities transported him to the Wayne County Jail for CAP Court arraignment before releasing him to appear in Newark Village Court.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police obtained a search warrant for Bergfjord’s phone and electronic devices.
The investigation remains ongoing.
