Burglary investigation leads to multiple charges in Lyons

Deputies arrested a Village of Newark man after investigating a reported burglary on Water Street in the Town of Lyons. The incident happened Jan. 30, when deputies responded to a call reporting a break-in at an apartment.

Deputies later arrested Florencio L. Alicea, 41, of Murray Street in Newark, around 6:30 p.m. at 64 Water Street. Investigators said Alicea broke into the victim’s apartment, damaged the door, and took items from inside.

Deputies said Alicea was located with the stolen property following their investigation. After his arrest, authorities reported that Alicea attempted to bribe officers in exchange for being released.

Alicea was charged with burglary in the second degree, petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, and bribery in the third degree.

Deputies held Alicea at the Wayne County Jail pending CAP processing.
