Bleeding from multiple cuts after a backyard clash with her neighbor, a Geneva woman now plans to sue the city, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Emily Bulger filed a notice of claim seeking $100,000, accusing Geneva police of negligence, selective enforcement, and civil rights violations after an August incident involving her loose dog. She went to the hospital with lacerations but ended up charged with four violations, including trespassing and dog-at-large.
Police reports describe the neighbor using a string trimmer defensively during a struggle. Bulger says officers never took her full statement and arrested her without hearing her side. The neighbor was not charged. Bulger received an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal, clearing her record if she avoids trouble.
