Quick response stops Ovid chimney fire

Firefighters quickly knocked down a chimney fire at a home in the Town of Ovid, preventing damage and injuries.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the fire at 2599 Center Road, where they found an active chimney fire sending smoke into the home, according to Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson.

The home is owned by Henry Stoltzfus.

Fire officials say the house did not sustain any damage thanks to a fast response by crews on scene.

The Ovid Fire Department served as the lead agency and was assisted by fire departments from Lodi, Interlaken, Romulus, and Fayette.

No injuries were reported. All residents declined medical attention from South Seneca Ambulance.
