Ithaca economic development seats new board, elects officers

Ithaca Area Economic Development has named new board members and elected officers for the coming year as it sets its leadership slate for 2026.

The organization approved the appointments at its first quarterly meeting of the year in January, according to a release from IAED .

New three-year board appointments include Bob Sprole III of Therm Inc. and Frank Stento of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 4.

Several members also received renewed three-year terms. They include Jodi Lee Denman of Knickerbocker Bed Co. and Wiggins Plastics, Carrie Pollak of Hancock Estabrook, and Chris Malcolm of Wegmans.

Monica Yant Kinney of Cornell University and Deborah Dawson of the Tompkins County Legislature joined the board as new annual appointments.

At the same meeting, the board elected its officers. Denman will serve as chair, with Tim Downs of Ithaca College as vice chair. Jeff Gorsky of Sciarabba Walker was named treasurer, and Lisa Whitaker of Beginnings Credit Union will serve as secretary.

Denman said she looks forward to working with new and returning members to support IAED’s mission of strengthening the local economy.

IAED President W. Kurt Foreman said leaders from across the community play a key role in moving Tompkins County and the Ithaca area forward.

Ithaca Area Economic Development is a private nonprofit organization focused on growing, retaining, and attracting businesses in Ithaca and Tompkins County.
