Syracuse women’s basketball delivered a dominant performance Thursday evening, rolling past Georgia Tech 94-70 at the JMA Wireless Dome. The Orange improved to 17-4 overall and 7-3 in ACC play, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 9-13 and 4-6.
Laila Phelia and Dominique Darius powered the victory, each surpassing the 20-point mark as Syracuse controlled the game from the opening minutes. Phelia finished with 23 points and a career-high seven steals, while Darius added 20 points for her fourth 20-plus scoring effort of the season. Uche Izoje recorded her 10th double-double of the year, posting 17 points and 15 rebounds.

Syracuse set the tone immediately, opening the game on a 9-0 run and forcing an early Georgia Tech timeout. The Orange defense was relentless in the first quarter, forcing turnovers and limiting the Yellow Jackets to eight points over the opening 10 minutes. Syracuse continued to build separation in the second quarter, using shot-blocking and defensive rebounding to fuel transition offense and carry a 40-23 lead into halftime, its largest advantage against an ACC opponent this season.
The Orange maintained control after the break, stretching the margin behind strong interior play and continued defensive pressure. Syracuse scored 54 points in the second half, including a 31-point third quarter that pushed the lead beyond 20. Bench contributions and efficient shooting sealed the outcome in the final period.
Syracuse finished with eight blocks and 13 steals, while 12 of the 14 players who saw the floor scored. The 24-point margin marked the Orange’s largest ACC win since March 2, 2025.
Syracuse heads to Florida next, visiting Miami on Sunday, February 1. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
