Pursuit from Yates to Ontario ends with arrests in Geneva: Suspects jump from vehicle and run in city

Deputies arrested two people after a police pursuit that crossed county lines and ended in the City of Geneva.

The Yates County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspects as Alex Valcin, 22, and Briana S. Rejois, 21, both of Delray Beach, Florida.

Deputies said they attempted to stop a dark green Mercedes-Benz on State Route 14 in the Town of Torrey. The vehicle fled, and deputies pursued it northbound with help from a New York State Trooper who was in the area.

The pursuit entered Ontario County and ended in the City of Geneva. Investigators said the occupants ran from the vehicle on foot on Grove Street shortly after the stop.

With assistance from the Geneva Police Department, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Police, officers established a perimeter and quickly located both suspects. Deputies recovered a stolen handgun at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities charged both defendants with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree. Deputies also charged Valcin with unlawfully fleeing a police officer, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

Deputies transported both suspects to the Yates County Jail for arraignment. Officials said additional charges remain pending as the investigation continues.
