The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications to fill correction officer positions, with a civil service exam scheduled for March.
The office announced a continuous civil service exam that will run from March 1 through March 31. Applications must be submitted by Feb. 13.
The starting salary for the position is $59,841.60, or $28.77 per hour, with pay increases each year. The job also includes shift differential and holiday pay.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old by the exam date and hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, possess a valid New York State driver’s license, and meet physical and medical standards.
A residency requirement applies, with applicants required to live in Ontario County or a county contiguous to Ontario County at the time of appointment. The application fee is $20, though fee waivers are available.
