A longtime nurse leader at Thompson Health has stepped into a new role overseeing several key hospital departments.
Alexa Carroll of Victor has been named nursing director of the ICU, Observation Unit, and Diagnostic Imaging Department at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua.
Carroll previously served as Thompson’s director of nursing for specialty practices and first joined the health system in 2024. Before coming to Thompson, she worked for New York University Langone Health in New York City, where she managed multiple specialty practices.
“This is an important transition within Thompson’s Department of Nursing, and with Alexa’s extensive critical care experience and her exceptional leadership qualities, we are thrilled to welcome her to this role,” said Hazel Robertshaw, Thompson Health vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer. “The three teams for which Alexa now provides oversight are indeed fortunate to have her at the helm.”
Carroll earned her master’s degree in administration from New York University and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey.
She holds Nurse Executive Board Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is also certified as a Critical Care Registered Nurse by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
