A report accusing a New York congresswoman of spending campaign money on tennis and luxury travel sparked sharp pushback from her team, according to Politico.
The investigation claims Claudia Tenney used campaign funds to attend Novak Djokovic tennis matches, stay in upscale hotels, and buy Lacoste merchandise during the 2025 U.S. Open. Federal filings listed the clothing purchases as donor gifts.
Tenney’s campaign called the report false and said all spending followed federal election law. Her Democratic challenger, Alissa Ellman, blasted the spending as a betrayal of voters, while legal experts noted campaign funds generally can’t cover personal clothing.
