Hochul’s running mate choice tightens

A high-stakes decision inside New York Democratic politics is heading into its final days, according to Spectrum News.

Gov. Kathy Hochul is expected to announce her lieutenant governor pick next week as party delegates formally back her reelection bid. Sources say the search has hit snags, with multiple candidates declining, including Queens Borough President Donovan Richards and state Sen. Jamaal Bailey.

Hochul is choosing her third running mate in five years after a public split with current Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado, who now plans to challenge her in a June primary.
