Police arrested a man in Penn Yan after officers responded to a complaint involving an order of protection.
Penn Yan Police said officers found the suspect inside the residence of a person who has an active stay-away order against him.
Police identified the man as James M. Gerard, 72, of Penn Yan. Officers took Gerard into custody and transported him to the Penn Yan Police Department for processing.
Gerard was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree. Police released him on an appearance ticket, and he is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
