A $75,000 grant will help modernize animal care in Schuyler County, according to Special to The Odessa File. The Humane Society of Schuyler County secured the funding from the ASPCA to meet New York’s new animal protection laws.
The money will upgrade heating and ventilation in dog kennels, keeping temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees as required under the Companion Animal Standards Act, which took effect in December.
The shelter already landed a $161,000 state matching grant but hadn’t included kennel HVAC upgrades. Prolonged summer heat exposed the gap, prompting the push for more support.
