Police arrested a man early Friday after an officer made contact with him in Geneva and confirmed an active warrant tied to an animal abandonment case.
The arrest involved Nicholas L. Bryant, 39, of Geneva, who had an outstanding arrest warrant issued out of Phelps Town Court, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
A Geneva police officer encountered Bryant around 1:12 a.m. on Jan. 24. Officers took him into custody and transported him to the Ontario County Jail for a custody transfer.
Deputies then processed Bryant at the jail, where he was held to await centralized arraignment processing. Authorities said he will appear in Phelps Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
Deputy Lefebvre investigated the case with assistance from the Geneva Police Department.
