Shoplifting investigation leads to Palmyra arrest

Police arrested a Palmyra man following an investigation into a shoplifting incident at a village convenience store.

The Palmyra Police Department arrested Brent A. Wiens, 40, of Stafford Street, at about 3:29 p.m. on Jan. 24 after identifying him as the suspect in the case.

According to police, the investigation began after a larceny reported on Nov. 17 at the Corner Market, located at 521 East Main Street. Officers said a male entered the store, selected merchandise, and passed all points of sale without paying.

Police said the incident was reported and the suspect was later identified through the investigation.

With assistance from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, officers located and arrested Wiens. He was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Authorities said Wiens was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Palmyra Village Court at a later date.

The Palmyra Police Department thanked the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for assisting with the arrest.
