On a frigid Friday night in the Wayne-Finger Lakes, the heat was turned up inside gyms across the region as a full slate of high school basketball tipped off. The most stunning result came in Wayne County, where the Palmyra-Macedon girls handed Newark its first loss of the season in a defensive battle, limiting Reds leading scorer Karina Natale to a season low. On the boys side, Wayne junior Richard Miles put on a shooting display, knocking down eight three-pointers in a lopsided win over Mynderse.
