Stolen wallet investigation at FL Gaming leads to one arrest

Deputies arrested a man at a local casino after investigating a report of a stolen wallet.

Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Michael J. Hopp, 39, of Warners, on a charge of fourth-degree grand larceny following an incident at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack. The arrest happened shortly after midnight on January 22.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a larceny complaint at the casino. Investigators say a patron had misplaced a wallet that contained cash and multiple credit and debit cards.

Deputies say Hopp took the wallet after it was misplaced by the other patron. A responding deputy located him on scene during the investigation.

After the arrest, deputies issued Hopp an appearance ticket. He is expected to return to Farmington Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.

Deputy Turnbull handled the investigation.
