Micron groundbreaking turns political

Cheers quickly turned into sharp political jabs as leaders gathered in Central New York for Micron’s long-awaited groundbreaking, according to Spectrum News 1. The ceremony in Clay drew Kathy Hochul and Trump administration officials eager to claim credit for the massive chip plant.

Hochul highlighted Democratic-backed incentives, including the CHIPS and Science Act, while Trump officials argued their revisions and tariffs strengthened the deal. Each side framed the project as proof their policies rebuilt American manufacturing.

Despite the sparring, local leaders stressed the plant’s economic impact, calling the groundbreaking a rare and meaningful milestone for a region long burned by failed development promises.
