A Cayuga County farmer is stepping into a key agriculture role after a federal appointment, according to The Citizen. Ryan Fessenden of King Ferry was named to New York’s Farm Service Agency state committee under the Trump administration.
Fessenden comes from a multigenerational farming family that runs Fessenden Dairy and also owns Lake Road Vineyards. He graduated from Cornell University and serves on the New York State Wine Grape Growers board.
The committee oversees farm programs, county operations, and appeals while connecting producers with federal resources. U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins appointed five members statewide, with Lawrence Eckhardt of Stephentown tapped as chair.
