State Police arrested two inmates following an investigation into an assault on correction officers at Auburn Correctional Facility.
Troopers charged Errol Fowler-Graham, 34, and Shaquan Brown, 33, after a grand jury returned indictments tied to an incident that happened during inmate movement inside the facility on Aug. 21. Multiple correction officers suffered injuries and were taken to Auburn Community Hospital for treatment. One officer remained out of work because of the injuries.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation led the case, working with the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.
Fowler-Graham and Brown were arraigned in Cayuga County Court on Jan. 13.
Both men face three felony counts of second-degree assault for injuring a person while confined in a correctional facility and three felony counts of second-degree assault for intentionally causing injury to an officer.
State Police said both defendants were processed without incident and returned to the custody of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
