Parolee arrested after cannabis seized in Erin

State Police arrested a man after a parole compliance check uncovered a large amount of illicit cannabis at a Chemung County residence.

Troopers took a 35-year-old Erin man into custody after parole officers located suspected cannabis during a check at a home on Wheaton Road in the town of Erin.

Investigators later executed a search warrant at the residence with help from the New York State Police Troop E Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team.

During the search, police seized about 45 pounds of illicit cannabis, seven pounds of concentrated cannabis, digital scales, packaging materials, a ledger, and cash consistent with narcotics sales.

Police charged Carlos L. Colon with first-degree criminal possession of cannabis, a felony.

A parole violation warrant was issued, and Colon was arraigned in Village of Horseheads Court. He was remanded to the Chemung County Jail without bail.

The investigation involved State Police, the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, and the Elmira Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit.
