As Albany rolls out its policy priorities this week, Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado is heading out of the Capitol and into communities across New York.
Delgado announced the launch of his “State of the People Tour,” a statewide effort focused on hearing directly from residents about rising costs and the pressure many families face just to get by.
The tour centers on what Delgado calls a gap between state government and everyday life. He says families across the state work harder than ever but still struggle with housing, health care, child care, transportation, and food costs, where one unexpected bill can push a household into crisis.
“New Yorkers don’t need more rhetoric or half-measures. They deserve leadership that starts with listening,” Delgado said. “This tour is about meeting people where they are, hearing what’s keeping them from paying their rent or mortgage, putting food on their table or finding child care, and building a people-centered vision for economic security that reflects the realities of everyday life.”
Delgado plans to visit Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester, and all five boroughs of New York City, along with rural communities across the state. Each stop will include conversations where residents can share what economic security looks like in their own lives and discuss how state government can better address affordability.
The lieutenant governor said the tour aims to rebuild trust in public institutions and focus on solutions shaped by those most affected by rising costs. He argues that economic insecurity stems from policy choices, not personal failure, and says state leadership should reflect that reality.
Details on specific tour stops are expected to be released in the coming days through media advisories.
