Junior guard Giana Lobozzo led William Smith with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals, but the Herons fell 68-39 to RIT in a Liberty League matchup at Bristol Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. Senior McKenzie Mandyck added six points, while juniors Amelia McCulley and Bridget McCleary each contributed five points and five rebounds.

RIT dominated early, opening the game with a 21-4 first-quarter lead, fueled by strong inside scoring and second-chance points. The Herons shot just 14 percent from the field in the opening quarter but settled in during the second, shooting 47 percent overall and 60 percent from three-point range. A buzzer-beating three from Mandyck cut the halftime deficit to seven, with RIT holding a 33-26 lead.
The Tigers pulled away in the second half, outscoring William Smith 23-12 in the third quarter behind balanced scoring and strong rebounding. RIT’s Maddy Ramsgard led all scorers with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Sophia Spizuoco added 11 points. Caroline Henderson and Faye Kaplinski combined for 20 points and 18 rebounds.
William Smith struggled in the fourth quarter, scoring just two points while turning the ball over four times. RIT maintained control and finished with a 29-point margin of victory, improving to 7-5 overall and 4-1 in Liberty League play. The Herons fall to 2-10 overall and 0-5 in conference action.
William Smith will travel to face Ithaca on Tuesday, January 13, for a 5:30 p.m. conference clash in Ben Light Gymnasium.
