Hochul tees up reelection pitch

Affordability, public safety and reelection will dominate next week’s State of the State, according to Spectrum News. Gov. Kathy Hochul plans to spotlight her record while laying out new proposals ahead of the 2026 race.

Hochul will push tougher action on illegal 3D-printed guns, new funding for artificial intelligence, and measures to curb antisemitism near houses of worship. She also signaled possible state legislation to counter aggressive federal immigration enforcement.

The address comes as budget pressures mount. Watchdogs warn of long-term gaps, while Hochul faces primary challenger Antonio Delgado and Republican Bruce Blakeman.
