Wayne County Community Schools lost nearly $6 million in federal funding—but organizers say they’re not backing down, according to RochesterFirst.com.
The 15-year-old initiative supports students across 11 districts with food, mental health help, and after-school programs. The U.S. Department of Education pulled the grant as part of a national funding shift, affecting 18 other programs.
Local leaders are urging lawmakers to help restore support. In the meantime, staff say they’ll keep serving families however they can—grant or no grant.
