A civil lawsuit alleges years of sexual harassment and assault by a former top local official, according to WIVT/WBGH.
The suit accuses a former Town of Union supervisor and deputy Broome County executive of targeting a female subordinate while leading a housing nonprofit. The complaint says the behavior started with sexual comments, then escalated into repeated unwanted touching and advances over several years.
The woman claims the situation culminated in a physical assault last summer inside the workplace. She says the nonprofit’s board failed to investigate after she reported the allegations, leaving her fearful for her job.
The lawsuit names John Bernardo and the SEPP Group, and seeks $15 million plus punitive damages.
