Winter travelers can slow down and lean into cozy this season as Cayuga County brings back its popular Hibercation campaign.
The Cayuga County Office of Tourism announced the winter promotion will run from January 15 through March 15, inviting visitors and locals to enjoy a relaxed, wellness-inspired escape.
The idea behind Hibercation blends hibernation and vacation. The goal is simple: set your own pace and enjoy winter without rushing.
Organizers say the experience can look different for everyone. Some may sleep in and linger over warm meals. Others may browse local shops or take quiet winter walks.
Local businesses join the effort
This year, 24 local businesses are offering Hibercation specials across Cayuga County. The deals include lodging packages, seasonal room rates, food and drink features, retail discounts, and self-care experiences.
Participating lodging options range from boutique stays to familiar hotels. They include 34 State, Hilton Garden Inn Auburn, Holiday Inn Auburn, Finger Lakes Luxury Rentals, Sparbuck on Owasco Lake, Cozy MacKenzie House, and Abby’s Tiny Houses.
Several lodging packages include welcome gifts or extra perks designed to help guests unwind.
Food, shopping, and self-care
Restaurants, breweries, wineries, and specialty food shops are also part of the winter campaign. Participating businesses include Prison City Brewery, Potters Farm to Fork, Auburn Bagel Company, Sweets by Sarah Bakery, Izzo’s White Barn Winery, Taste of NY, Rowan’s Bar & Grill, Turtle Cove, and Combgrown Mead.
Retail and self-care offers are available at places such as Regenerations, Haus of Hamilton Vintage & Thrift, Covet Thrift Emporium, Divine Coverings, Melody’s Co-Working Space, and Hamilton Salon & Apothecary.
Tourism officials say Hibercation experiences also make thoughtful winter gifts, offering rest, warmth, and time well spent in Cayuga County.
