Deputies: Seneca burglary investigation results in arrest

Police arrested a man after deputies responded to a burglary in progress in the Town of Seneca.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to State Route 5&20 on January 6 after a victim reported someone breaking into a residence.

Deputies located and detained a suspect who matched the description provided by the victim. Investigators later arrested Richard Earl Thomas II, 26, in connection with the incident.

Investigators say Thomas unlawfully entered a residence and stole personal property. Deputies took him into custody and transported him to the Ontario County Jail.

Authorities held Thomas pending CAP court, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office also says investigators are looking into reports of possible related incidents in the area. Those cases remain under investigation.

Deputy C. Morey led the investigation with assistance from Deputies J. DeChick and J. Miller.
