House Majority Whip Tom Emmer is pushing to deport Somalis tied to a massive welfare fraud case in Minnesota, according to WSTM.
Emmer said he’ll back a law to revoke citizenship from naturalized individuals if needed, after 98 people — 85 of Somali descent — were charged in schemes involving daycare and Medicaid programs. Investigators say billions in taxpayer funds were stolen, though terrorism links remain unproven.
The Department of Homeland Security and federal prosecutors are now digging deeper into the alleged fraud.
