Tompkins County just landed $2 million in state funding to move forward on a long-planned government complex in Ithaca, according to WENY. The money comes through New York’s Regional Economic Development Council grants.
County leaders plan to build a 48,000-square-foot Center of Government at North Tioga and East Buffalo streets. The project aims to consolidate offices now spread across the city and modernize county operations.
The full project carries an estimated $50 million price tag and includes demolition, new construction, and renovations to the Old Jail and Courthouse. Tompkins County expects completion by September 2029.
