Sabres stretch win streak to nine with road win over Blues

Zach Benson’s go-ahead goal early in the third period lifted the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center on Monday night, extending Buffalo’s win streak to nine game, their longest since a 10-game run in November 2018.

Benson’s goal came at 1:46, finishing off a puck that deflected to the side of the net after Dalibor Dvorsky disrupted Ryan McLeod’s pass intended for Jack Quinn. Peyton Krebs added an empty-netter at 18:44 to seal the win.

Noah Ostlund and Alex Tuch also scored for the Sabres (20-14-4), with Alex Lyon stopping 16 shots. Buffalo’s six consecutive road victories mark the longest road streak since December 1976.

Ostlund opened the scoring just 2:19 into the game, finishing a 2-on-1 after Josh Norris intercepted a clearing attempt at the blue line. Brayden Schenn tied it at 1-1 at 5:08, and Jimmy Snuggerud gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead at 8:09, jamming home a rebound after stripping Mattias Samuelsson behind the net.

Tuch tied the game 2-2 at 15:17 of the second, converting a cross-ice pass from Samuelsson on a 3-on-2 rush. Buffalo had an earlier potential tying goal waved off when Tuch’s shot was ruled a kick.

Next, the Sabres visit the Dallas Stars on Wednesday at 8 p.m., looking to close out 2025 with a 10th straight win.
