Flu cases hit record high in New York

Flu is spreading faster than ever in New York, with over 71,000 cases reported in just one week — the highest since tracking began in 2004, according to Spectrum News.

The state saw a 38% jump in cases and a 63% spike in hospitalizations. Children under 18 are being hit hardest in NYC ERs. Health officials blame the severe H3 subtype of influenza A and say the worst may still be ahead.

Dr. Jim McDonald urged people to get vaccinated, wash hands often, and stay home when sick — especially during holiday gatherings.
