A deadly house fire shut down Main Street in Verona on Christmas Eve after crews found one person dead inside the home, according to CNY Central.
Deputies with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6:20 p.m. to a fully involved structure fire at a residence on Main Street. Firefighters later located one deceased person inside the home after knocking down the flames.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity as the investigation continues and the medical examiner works to confirm identification. Multiple fire departments and emergency agencies assisted at the scene, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
