Jordan driver arrested after car leaves roadway in Cayuga County

Deputies arrested a man following a crash that sent a vehicle into a tree line in the Town of Brutus.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as Trevor R. Heath, 41, of Jordan.

Deputies responded Dec. 17 to a motor vehicle accident at Route 31 and Lippoldt Road. Investigators determined the vehicle traveled eastbound before leaving the roadway and coming to rest off the southern shoulder.

Heath, the driver and sole occupant, was evaluated by medical personnel at the scene. Deputies then conducted standardized field sobriety tests and determined he was intoxicated.

Deputies arrested Heath and transported him to the Public Safety Building for processing. He later provided a breath sample showing a BAC of .24%.

Heath received uniform traffic tickets for DWI, aggravated DWI with a BAC of .18 or higher, and other traffic infractions. He is scheduled to appear in Brutus Town Court on Jan. 6.
