Farmington man faces multiple charges after incident with knife

Deputies arrested a man after a reported knife threat during a disturbance at a Farmington motel.

Christopher Donald Kowalski, 33, of Farmington, was taken into custody following an investigation tied to a menacing complaint at the Fingerlakes Inn, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the incident began with a report of menacing at the Fingerlakes Inn in the Town of Farmington.

Investigators allege Kowalski brandished a large kitchen knife during a verbal disturbance with another resident of the community. Authorities said a woman and a young child were nearby at the time and feared for their personal safety.

Kowalski was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, menacing in the second degree, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Deputies took him into custody without incident and transported him to the Ontario County Jail for pre-arraignment detention.

Authorities said Kowalski will return to Farmington Town Court at a later date to answer the charges. A stay-away order of protection was requested on behalf of the adult female victim and the juvenile victim.
