After nearly a decade downtown, the Democrat and Chronicle is preparing to change addresses, according to the paper. The now-digitally focused entity plans to leave its leased space at 245 East Main St. in the second half of 2026.
Leadership says the move reflects how the newsroom now works. General Manager Heather Falkey and Executive Editor Mike Kilian told staff they want a space that better supports collaboration, in-person energy, and modern newsroom needs.
The paper has operated from the Main and Clinton location since 2016. Before that, it spent decades in the former Gannett Building on Exchange Boulevard.
