Decades of local leadership took center stage as the Steuben County Legislature honored four departing lawmakers this week, according to county officials. The group recognized years of service spanning finance, public safety, health, and regional planning.
Gary Swackhamer earned praise for more than 30 years representing District 1, including long stints as Majority Leader and committee chair. Carol Ferratella wrapped up 15 years in District 13, with leadership roles inside the Legislature and across Western New York.
James Kuhl and Wendy Lozo, first elected in 2022, received recognition for hands-on work in human services, agriculture, public safety, and infrastructure. Lawmakers thanked all four for strengthening county government and community life.
