A woman from Geneva was arrested after police say she made a threat targeting a Steuben County school.
Officers took 36-year-old Carrie McChesney into custody on December 19, following a call that prompted a quick response from multiple law enforcement agencies.
According to the Village of Bath Police Department, the Steuben County 911 center received a call just after 8 a.m. that morning. The caller, traced to Ontario County, allegedly made direct threats toward the Bath Haverling School District.
Investigators identified the caller as McChesney and worked with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office to locate and arrest her. She was then transferred to the Bath Police Department.
McChesney was charged with making a terroristic threat, a class D felony.
Police thanked the Bath Haverling School District, the 911 center, and both county sheriff’s offices for helping resolve the situation quickly.
