Watertown man sentenced in major meth case

A Watertown man will spend more than a decade in federal prison after being convicted of trafficking a large quantity of methamphetamine, federal prosecutors announced.

Seth Demiceli, 25, was sentenced to 132 months in prison for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute. A federal judge also ordered five years of supervised release following his incarceration.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York, Demiceli admitted that on Jan. 16, 2025, he drove from the Rochester area to Watertown carrying approximately 4.5 kilograms — about 10 pounds — of methamphetamine. Authorities said the drugs were intended for distribution.

Prosecutors described the quantity seized as significant and dangerous, noting the potential harm such an amount could cause to communities.

“This drug dealer was apprehended by law enforcement with a terrifying amount of methamphetamine in his car,” Acting U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III said in a statement. He credited law enforcement agencies for preventing the drugs from reaching the streets.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives with assistance from the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit and the Metro Jefferson Drug Task Force.

Federal officials said the sentence reflects the seriousness of large-scale drug trafficking and the continued focus on disrupting the flow of illegal narcotics in northern New York.
