Students at Tompkins Cortland Community College will soon have a guaranteed route to a four-year degree close to home.
TC3 and Hobart and William Smith Colleges announced a new transfer agreement that guarantees admission and scholarships for TC3 graduates. The schools signed the agreement Thursday on the Dryden campus.
The partnership applies to all TC3 majors. Students who earn a TC3 degree with a 3.0 GPA or higher will receive guaranteed acceptance to Hobart and William Smith with full junior status.
Those students will also receive a guaranteed scholarship of at least $30,500.
“This agreement is significant for TC3 because for many of our students, guaranteed acceptance with full junior status into a highly regarded institution such as Hobart and William Smith, right here in the Finger Lakes, while also receiving a very generous scholarship, is a tremendous, life-changing opportunity,” said TC3 President Amy Kremenek.
She said the partnership benefits both students and the wider community.
Hobart and William Smith President Mark D. Gearan said the agreement reflects shared values between the two institutions.
“This agreement reflects our shared commitment to expanding opportunity and supporting student success,” Gearan said. “We are proud to partner with Tompkins Cortland Community College to create a seamless pathway to HWS.”
College leaders said the agreement strengthens access to bachelor’s degrees while keeping students in the Finger Lakes region.
