Syracuse women’s basketball closed non-conference play in emphatic fashion, rolling past Mercyhurst 106-40 to improve to 11-1 overall. Uche Izoje and Kiera Scott each recorded double-doubles as the Orange overwhelmed the Lakers from start to finish.

Syracuse wasted little time setting the tone, opening the game with a three-pointer from Sophie Burrows and building momentum behind Izoje’s early scoring. The Orange poured in 32 first-quarter points and carried a 32-12 lead after one, capped by a buzzer-beating basket that energized the JMA Wireless Dome crowd.
The bench made a major impact in the second quarter, contributing 17 points as Syracuse continued to stretch the margin. Maddy Potts led the way with eight points in the period, including two three-pointers, as the Orange took a season-high 58-24 lead into halftime.
Syracuse kept its foot on the gas after the break, opening the third quarter with a 12-0 run and holding Mercyhurst to just eight points in the frame. Another late three extended the lead to 85-32 heading into the final quarter.
The Orange maintained control in the fourth, showcasing defensive pressure with six steals and four blocked shots on the night. Syracuse finished with five players in double figures, shot efficiently from the field and eclipsed the 100-point mark for the first time this season.
Syracuse opens ACC home play Sunday, December 28, hosting Duke with tipoff set for 4 p.m.
