Crosswalk crash kills pedestrian in Cortland

A routine afternoon crossing turned deadly at a busy Cortland intersection, according to WBNG. Police say a pedestrian died after a vehicle struck them in a crosswalk at Main and Court streets just after 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators say an Amazon driver, using their personal vehicle, made a left turn on a flashing yellow signal and failed to yield. The pedestrian had the right of way and walked east through the crosswalk.

Police say the driver is cooperating and showed no signs of impairment. Fire crews, deputies, and EMS all responded as the investigation continues.
