A car burst into flames Thursday afternoon after the driver spotted smoke while traveling near Eastview Mall.
Ontario County sheriff’s deputies responded around 3:21 p.m. to the parking lot near Macy’s for a reported vehicle fire.
Deputies said Arianna Paradise, 18, of Penfield, was driving southbound on Route 96 when she and her passenger noticed smoke coming from the car. The passenger, Sidney Jones, 18, of Macedon, was also inside the vehicle.
Paradise steered the car into the mall parking lot and away from other vehicles. Both occupants exited safely while the car continued to smoke.
The vehicle then caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames, deputies said.
Victor Fire Department, Egypt Fire Department, and Eastview Mall Security responded to the scene to assist. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident.
