A major road upgrade in the Town of Canandaigua just earned statewide recognition for quality and innovation.
Members of the Town of Canandaigua Highway Department received a 2024 Asphalt Pavement Showcase Award for the Middle Cheshire Road Rehabilitation Project.
The award honors exceptional asphalt paving projects across New York State. It recognizes workmanship, durability, and the use of advanced materials.
Town officials credited Highway Superintendent James Fletcher and Deputy Highway Superintendent Travis Spike for leading the project. Officials said their focus on quality helped deliver long-lasting improvements for a key local roadway.

The Middle Cheshire Road project was a collaborative effort. Villager Construction Inc. served as the project contractor, while The Dolomite Group supplied materials and served as the awarding producer.
The project used NYSDOT-approved asphalt technologies designed to improve roadway durability, safety, and overall performance. The road serves both residents and visitors and plays a key role in local travel.
Town leaders said the award reflects strong teamwork and a continued commitment to excellence in public works.
