Auburn will use its remaining downtown revitalization funds to honor a hometown legend, according to The Citizen. City leaders announced plans for a new mural celebrating Tony Award-winning choreographer Thommie Walsh.
The city issued a request for proposals for a mural on a Dill Street building, with up to $20,000 available from leftover Downtown Revitalization Initiative funds. Officials say the artwork should honor Walsh’s legacy while creating a sense of place downtown.
Walsh, an Auburn native who died in 2007, won a Tony for choreography. Applications are due Jan. 16, with city leaders working alongside Walsh’s family on the project.
