National Grid will launch the first major exterior restoration of its iconic Niagara Mohawk headquarters in downtown Syracuse, according to WSTM.
The multi-year project targets wear and tear on the 90-year-old Art Deco building, including structural reinforcements and repairs that preserve its historic design. Work will start with fixing the front doors damaged in a 2024 vehicle crash, followed by roof replacement, brickwork repairs, and restoration of decorative panels and stainless-steel features.
Company leaders said funding will be assembled over the next several years and framed the project as a routine cost of doing business. About 2,000 employees work inside the building.
