Rising costs pushed Onondaga County Legislator Dave Knapp into the race for state Assembly, according to The Citizen.
The Republican says high taxes and state energy policies have driven up utility bills and fueled population loss across upstate New York. Knapp argues Albany moved too fast toward electrification without enough infrastructure and wants the state to slow down while expanding nuclear power.
Knapp announced his run earlier this month for the 126th Assembly District seat after the current lawmaker launched a congressional bid. He points to decades in local government, deep agricultural ties, and Army service as experience that fits the district.
