Ithaca teachers approve major contract

After months of tense negotiations, Ithaca teachers overwhelmingly backed a new contract that reshapes pay and boosts salaries, according to The Ithaca Voice.

Members of the Ithaca Teachers Association voted 86% in favor of a three-year deal that includes average raises of 7%, 7%, and 6%, along with a shift to a step-and-lane pay system tied to experience and education. Union leaders called the change a long-sought win that brings stability and transparency to compensation.

Final approval now rests with the ICSD Board of Education, which plans to vote in January. The agreement also extends paid parental leave and lengthens the school day next year.
