Officials search for dog after skier bitten in Dryden

Tompkins County health officials are trying to locate a dog that bit a skier to check for rabies, according to WSTM.

The bite happened Tuesday around 2 p.m. in Cornell-owned fields near Hanshaw and Freese roads. The dog—possibly a Bernese Mountain Dog—was one of two large black dogs off-leash. The owner, described as a white woman in a parka, leashed the dog after the bite, but no contact info was exchanged.

Officials need to monitor the dog for 10 days and are asking the public for help identifying it.
