Wayne County Treasurer Patrick Schmitt will step down Jan. 4 after 13 years with the county to take a job in the private sector, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Schmitt, who became treasurer in 2019, has accepted a position with Clifton Larson Allen’s State and Local Government Accounting Division. He called the move a tough but thoughtful decision, praising his team’s work during his tenure.
Deputy Treasurer Megan Fralick will step in after his departure. The seat will be on the November 2026 ballot.
